Three BLIND Mice

What can I say about this film ... Hmm, Let me count the ways... First I must say that for the Directorial Debut of Jade Holmes , this is a very well put together film. It was shot on the RED camera so I'm sure there was money behind it. I have had the pleasure to speak with this young Directress about this powerful piece. This film triggers many factors and flaws in the DC policing system. Not only does it have its stance on the politics in the city but on the families that live in it. It takes place in SE DC with some noted actors. I actually can not give away more than that because this film is still traveling from festival to festival. Trust me this film deserves every award that it wins. I do want to see more from Jade Holmes, this time around I would like her to do a film where the Women were the main factors. I can tell with "Three Blind Mice" that she wanted to focus on the injustices of Black man in the DC area but still it was so much more. Ok Ok I'm not going to give away the story just make sure you Make it to a screening so that you can see why I'm over excited.

Enjoy!

Black Face Returned ...

Wow...

We are screening this Film at the DMVIFF Recap... This film is .. Wow.. OK First just let me say that no films are a direct reflection of the film festival. We do select films that would not be socially acceptable. Some films are in their raw form and others are socially and politically correct with a heavy subconscious theory to them. Even still, this film might make a lot of people upset. I would say that it is the modern works of D.W. Griffith. The good thing about this film is that there could be many reason as to why the main theme was "Black face" .. Even still its cinema , however one might call it a "Filmmakers Statement", which to me are one of the best forms of communication. This film was made far out in the Soviet so be mindful of the banter in dialogue. This was a Filmmakers Choice pick just because of its high definition in poorly written storyline but heavy conceptual undertone. Kudos to that filmmaker. I am sure that the Filmmaker will grow into maturity as a visual artist. Another point --cinematography was not bad at all. Actually there were some shots in the Film where I really enjoyed watching it. It can be a bit disturbing but the Cinematography makes a heavy attempt to Even out ...

--Enjoy

At the End of the Day ...

This film begins with the concept that at the end of the day everything you desire and need , including yourself will eventually turn in to Dust. As I watched this film for the first time, I sat back and wondered about of course the shooting technique but further more about the story behind the film. A young skate finds himself in the life of Crime while trying to figure his way out. Young Kareem wants to change but can not pull himself from the web he has created. This film brings me to the streets of North London, where I find myself in the midst of this secret skater boy society. This is Osy Ikhile's first film. Of course there are things he can improve on but this being his first film and already achieving the awarding title of "Best International Short Film", speaks volumes for this young filmmaker. I do want you all to take a look at the dark Dogme 95' style film...

Enjoy --

A "doubtful" Trailer

Its crazy because I remember when the adverts for this Film Came out. I was actually on the way back to my Flat in London. I remember seeing it in the Tube and wondering what it is about. Honestly I ended up seeing a screener version of the film back in '08. Now its is '10 and I have seen this film plenty of times. I find myself analysing it trying to figure out what it is about this film that make me want to break down the emotion of "lust". There is nothing secy in this film and definitely nothing appealing about priests as far as "sex symbols". Maybe Lust is the wrong word. Maybe Doubt is the perfect word and solution.s Its a very strong motion. It is an emotion that one can not easily disregard . From a feeling , a hunch, a thought a lot can transpire. i cant help but think about life in itself and how doubt can be easily turned into an action that can be regrettable. Just saying .. This Film Is dope! You have to have a acquired taste for it but ultimately it does what a film is supposed to do and that is , tell one hell of a store. Though its based on an emotion, You can easily relate this film to life itself. So make sure you at least check it out or look at the trailer.... Peace.
